I am Thankful

img_4257Happy Thanksgiving! Today is day two of my series grateful, thankful, blessed. If you haven’t read my post on Gratefulness, read yesterday’s post!

Today if you couldn’t guess is about the things I am thankful for. After looking at different things I realized that being thankful is appreciating the things in life. It is not necessarily about actions or people, it is about the things or memories that you see God in or hold dear to your heart.

Every day or every few days I try and write down all the things I am thankful for. Often those tend to be a test ending better than I thought it would, a beautiful picture that captures a memory or a person, a song coming on at the right time, God allowing a conversation to happen, or something that truly shows me God’s beauty or allows me to think of Him.

Yes, some of the things I am thankful for can be superficial, but there are some things that I forget I have that others don’t. I truly live a life I should be thankful for. I should be thankful for the things God gives me. The time to build relationships and see the people I love and the ability to get to them.

Today is a day where many of us fill our bellies with so much food, food we should be so thankful for, because not everyone has it. We should be thankful for our freedom, especially that to worship and pray before a Thanksgiving meal, because not everyone has that. I should be thankful for the car that gets me to my family, my phone that allows me to talk to those I love and take pictures to remember the memories. I should be thankful for the time I get to spend learning about myself, and the past and future generations around me. I should be thankful for the games that bring us closer and allow for laughter. I should be thankful for the blanket that keeps me warm while I watch a holiday movie. I should be thankful for these things because they give me so much, and not everyone gets the chance to be thankful for these things.

I truly have so much and if I look around today I can see that, and how God has truly given me so much, and how He is a part of everything in my life. I am so thankful.
